In this newly created role, the University of Leeds is seeking to appoint a Commercial Director to deliver a wide range of strategic initiatives across the University. This is an exciting opportunity to shape, consult, and advise at the highest levels in a circa £700m turnover organisation.
Reporting to the Director of Campus Development, you will be responsible for leading the strategic development of the Facilities Directorate’s commercial services. Working as part of the Directorate’s Senior Management Team, you will lead the transformation of commercial services, developing innovative commercial partnerships to maximise year-round returns. The role will operate at the strategic level to create an integrated approach to commercial activity across the University.
Of particular significance for this role is the Commercial Director’s leadership in developing a new commercial and city facing zone of the campus. Developments here will complement and be part of the City’s emerging Innovation District and will build on and support the success of the University’s new Innovation and Enterprise Centre, Nexus. Facilities developed here could include a new hotel, conference and exhibition centre. The Commercial Director will lead this high-profile development, working closely with colleagues in Estates and across the University to ensure its successful delivery.
The University of Leeds is seeking an outstanding individual with a track-record in either hospitality, retail, leisure or an associated sector. You will be a results-orientated, highly collaborative systems-thinker, with a proven track record in delivering significant programmes/projects involving commercial facilities development. You will have a breadth of experience and technical knowledge in international market trends in your sector. As an inspiring leader, you will have the ability to influence colleagues across the University, delivering through effective matrix leadership.
