Network Rail has committed to be a company that is on the side of passengers and freight users; that is easy to engage with and a dependable partner, a company that people are proud to work for and recognised as an industry leader. Our ‘Putting People First’ strategy has driven a transformation of Network Rail, and the creation of a new regional structure allows us to provide the best possible services for passengers and freight, localising decision making whilst improving responsiveness and relationships with train operators and regional stakeholders.

In order to build a high-performing regional leadership team, we are seeking a Finance Director for the Scotland region, to own and lead the financial and commercial management of the region, directing all financial activities to meet both the regionally devolved and corporate business plans. This is a crucial leadership role at an important time for both Network Rail and the Scotland region, so we require an experienced and credible business leader who can help develop the autonomy of the newly created region, leading financial relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure confidence amongst train operating companies, regulators and the Department for Transport.

The successful candidate will be an experienced Finance Director or CFO, with a proven track record of successful financial leadership as well as broader business leadership expertise. You will bring experience gained within a project/programme orientated environment, with an understanding of how regulated industries are governed. You will be able to demonstrate the interpersonal and influencing skills required to lead large, complex organisations through periods of structural and cultural change, with an ability to develop and maintain key relationships at all levels across business and industry stakeholders.
