Martech, part of the Coda Octopus group of companies, based near Weymouth Dorset, is looking to appoint a Senior Technical Manager to its management team (potential Technical Director position). This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially astute, seasoned technical professional looking to make a significant contribution in a small, dynamic technology business.

Martech works with a number of leading companies across a diverse range of industries including Defence, Aerospace, Subsea, Automotive and other similarly demanding sectors, designing and manufacturing electronic and electro-mechanical technology to meet exacting requirements. Activities include New Product Development, Custom Test Equipment and Legacy System Redesign. A strong background in electronic design and manufacturing in some of the above or similar industries is essential.

The Senior Technical Manager role is key to the growth of Martech's business and is part of the management team, focused on developing and delivering technical solutions for diverse and ever-changing but technically-demanding customer requirements.

As such, this role is both technical and commercial, and the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record in electronic or electro-mechanical engineering and will also have been closely involved in a customer facing role, producing complex bids, proposals and costings.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate creativity in technical problem solving/product innovation, whilst also being able to interpret and empathise with customer needs and expectations. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are a must, as is a solid grasp of business and commercial imperatives.

A self-starter, you will have solid technical credentials and will have worked recently in a senior engineering or commercial role in defence, aerospace or other similarly demanding industry. Based at our offices near Weymouth, you will be expected to visit customer sites as required.

As part of the management team you will lead our engineers and technicians to deliver projects, guiding and mentoring them to fulfil customer specifications, whilst providing technical vision and direction to produce innovative yet practical and economically-viable designs. Good interpersonal skills and man-management experience is essential.

You will also take an active lead in the bidding process, developing convincing technical proposals and detailed costings, assisting the wider team to win business.
