Created in 2011, HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice. Responsible for the administration of the criminal, civil and family, it operates on the basis of a partnership between the Lord Chancellor, the Lord Chief Justice and the Senior President of Tribunals. It currently has around 16,000 staff, operating from around 350 locations with a gross annual budget of c£1.6bn, approximately £800 million of which is recovered in fees and income from service users. It handles over 2 million criminal cases, 1.8 million civil claims, more than 150,000 family law disputes and almost 800,000 tribunal cases annually.

Reporting into the Chief Digital Information Officer (CDIO), you will be a member of the Senior Management Group, expected to provide leadership that contributes to the broader vision, strategy and business performance of HMCTS. The role supports the CDIO in all aspects of leading the directorate and in delivering on the Digital Strategy, whilst being responsible for managing a geographically disparate team of c50 in the definition and delivery of the applications roadmap. This is an exciting time to join the digital team at HMTCS, with digital change underpinning wider business transformation across the organisation, centred around making digital services accessible, inclusive and open to all.

You will be a resilient and inspirational leader, experienced in the building of high performing multi-disciplinary teams and possessing a comprehensive knowledge of the digital landscape. With a background in software engineering, you will be well versed in the effective deployment of Agile methodologies and experienced in leading application development through transition into live services. With the ability to manage a broad stakeholder base of senior leaders across Government, you will possess demonstrable experience in delivering on a strategic digital vision in a complex environment through outstanding leadership.
