Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust
Appointment of a Non-Executive Director
£20,000 (2-3 days per month)
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the oldest hospitals in the country and also one of the most modern. It is also one of the largest and one of the best. Proudly rooted at the heart of our communities, we provide support for local people as well as those who travel from farther afield to benefit from the specialist services we offer. We teach the clinicians of the future and undertake ground-breaking research. We have engaged and proud staff working to improve our offering in order to look after our highly diverse population and an impressive unitary Board closely connected to the Trust and those same communities. We are now looking to appoint a new Non-Executive Director to join this fascinating, vibrant values-based organisation.
Our Non-Executive Directors are ambassadors for the Trust. You will have a key role providing leadership inside the organisation and provide oversight of our vision and mission to provide top quality patient care, excellent education and world-class research. You will help in the development of our strategy, scrutinise our performance, and ensure we are clinically, financially and socially robust. Equally importantly, you will be able to point to active involvement and engagement in one or more of the Trust’s local communities and demonstrate achievement at senior level in a large and complex organisation. Experience of dealing with workforce issues and or working with vulnerable adults would be an asset.
Only a candidate who is a public or patient member of GSTT or can qualify as a member is eligible for appointment as a non-executive director. To qualify as a public member, you must be a resident of one of the London Boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham, Wandsworth or Westminster. To qualify as patient member, you must be a patient, or carer of a patient, who has attended GSTT in the last five years.
GSTT places considerable emphasis on diversity at Board level, and particularly encourages applications from appropriately qualified candidates from all sections of the community, and from people with diverse experience and backgrounds.
