We have a senior opportunity to head up our legal team at P&O, working as part of our leadership team.

We are currently looking for an exceptional individual to head up our legal team, this role covers both the legal department but also looks after our property and claims team. This role cover the full range of legal activity including contract, governance, M&A, litigation and other areas. You will be supported by a number of external specialist law firms which will mean that the successful individual will be a fantastic generalist who can lend their hand to any legal issues that come up.

The team is well supported by a qualified team member which will allow you to manage your strategic objectives and provide long term direction for the department and team. This role looks after the building services and claims teams as well but both those team are self managed so will require some strategic direction. There is a good amount of contract work within this role and you will be well versed within contract law.

We have recently been taken over by Dubai Ports Worldwide and as part of this exciting change you will be reporting on all legal, compliance, trademark and company secretarial issues. This role will also involve procurement and management of all non- marine insurance and negotiation of P&I insurance.

One of the key parts of this role is the GDPR legislation and you will be the lead for making sure that P&O comply with this legislation alongside Bribery Act and Antitrust legislation.

To be successful in this role it is essential that you have the following skills:

- A qualified lawyer with extensive post qualification experience alongside working as an in- house counsel

- Experience of commercial contracts within an international environment

- Compliance and company secretarial experience

- Knowledge of international law/ legal framework

- It would be beneficial if you have shipping experience alongside logistics

- A strong people manager with a strategic vision

- Litigation experience across both large scale and general claims level
