Job Details

UCL is one of the world’s finest universities, and London’s Global University. UCL was founded in 1826 to open higher education to students from a wider range of backgrounds and to change the way we create and share knowledge. In 1878, we became the first university in England to welcome women on equal terms with men. That radical spirit is alive and nurtured today across our university and underpins our ground-breaking research. Our staff and students are taking on some of the biggest challenges of our time and making vital contributions for the good of humanity.

Our current President & Provost Professor Michael Arthur is leaving UCL in an exceptionally strong position. UCL regularly features among the global top-10 universities in league tables, including eighth in the 2020 QS World Rankings.

In appointing his successor, we are seeking an outstanding leader who will be thoroughly respected within UCL and beyond. Accountable to the Council, the President & Provost is the leader of UCL. We are looking for an exceptional individual who will have a crucial external role to play in representing UCL both nationally and internationally, interacting with governments and influencing the development of higher education in the UK. The successful candidate will have the visionary leadership and skills to develop and maintain relationships with those who share our vision of the importance of higher education. They will be able to demonstrate success in strategic and operational leadership within a large and complex world leading organisation and have the requisite experience and capability to represent UCL on a global scale.

For further details, including a job description, person specification and information on how to apply, please visit https://candidates.perrettlaver.com/vacancies/, quoting reference 4196. Applications will close at 9am BST on Monday 30th September.

Company

Just 180 years ago, the benefits of a university education in England were restricted to men who were members of the Church of England; UCL was founded to challenge that discrimination. UCL was the first university to be established in England after Oxford and Cambridge, providing a progressive alternative to those institutions’ social exclusivity, religious restrictions and academic constraints.
