Finance Director

Pure Executive have been retained exclusively to recruit a high calibre Finance Director based in Thurrock, Essex. Our client, a privately owned business, have won customer contracts that mean they are entering a period of rapid growth and are now looking to strengthen their management team by appointing a Board level Finance Director.

The position of Finance Director has three clear purposes:

• To ensure the business is run in a compliant way and that the finance function has strong controls and processes
• Provide sound financial advice and guidance to the Executive Chairman and the senior management team
• Think strategically, help improve performance and profitability and ensure key stakeholders understand key financial information

Key responsibilities:

• Oversee and review the production of monthly management accounts and other financial statements
• Create and deliver a detailed monthly board pack with relevant commentary
• Develop, interpret and present business performance KPI's to key insurance partners to manage contract compliance
• Attend and add value to regular board meetings
• Interpret a range of MI and data to ensure all stakeholders understand key information
• Take ownership of the Group's financial strategy
• Mentor, train and develop the MD and Head of Finance to build succession at a Board Level.
• Manage key relationships with the bank, auditors and other key service providers
• Lead and deliver the annual audit process
• Monitor cash flow and other financial transactions, signing off large expenditure requirements
• Integrate a new financial system across the business (likely to be Microsoft Dynamics) that will require full project management
• Update and implement financial policies and procedures whilst ensuring the company's financial data is protected at all times
• Oversee / prepare annual statutory returns to include HMRC returns and data for tax pack

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

• ACA Qualified Accountant (ideally top ten trained)
• Detailed experience of P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow management
• Ability to demonstrate strategic and commercial focus in previous roles
• Experience within a privately owned, growing business would be beneficial
• Ability to analyse data, interpret & relay information
• Results driven with a hands on creative outside the box approach applied
• Excellent presentational skills and become fully conversant in the company's operating model to allow focused conversations with external customers and stakeholders
