We are looking for a talented and hard working accountant with recent Public Sector experience to join a large client based in the centre of Birmingham. Currently undergoing a period of significant change and improvement, you’ll be walking into a changing and challenging environment with the opportunity to add real value to the organisation and support the leadership’s drive towards outstanding financial management
You will be involved in a wide variety of financial tasks, including but not limited to:
- Providing high quality advice and support to departments across the organisation
- Supporting timely and accurate financial reporting for month end and
- Assessing in-year spend and analysing for trends
- Conducting various pieces of financial analysis
- Developing and improving financial reports through the general ledger as the organisation moves to a new ERP system
- Carrying out complex reconciliations
You will need to be comfortable operating in a fluid and changing environment, and be able to stay focused and add value. A positive, can-do approach is key and we’ll be looking at your resume in the context of how you’ve been able i identify and solve financial issues and challenges, from difficult stakeholder management to a strong understanding of good financial practices.
Given the nuances of the roles and the need to get up to speed quickly, recent central or local government experience is key and applications who evidence this best will be shortlisted as a priority.
The role will run for 6 to 9 months and potentially longer for the right candidate, and will offer the opportunity to add experience within a major and nationally-recognised client which is one of the largest in its field.
