Job Details

With the rise of the digital revolution, traditional markets rapidly evolving and the UK leaving the EU, to ensure consumers are protected, it is essential for competition and market regulation to be at the heart of the UK's economic debate. As the Senior Director for Strategy and Communications, working at Executive Committee and Board level, you will develop and drive forward the strategy to articulate the Board's ambitions to improve outcomes for consumers, businesses and the wider UK economy.

Reporting to the Chief Executive and with dotted line reporting to the Chairman you will lead the CMA’s strategy and external communications work, forming a key interface between the CMA and high-level stakeholders and the media, driving the ability of the CMA to deliver effectively and enhancing the CMA’s external reputation.

You will also lead the development of the CMA’s presence across Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, ensuring that the CMA is fully effective in reaching out and responding to the different economic and political dynamics of the devolved nations.

If you can bring to the role a proven track record of developing a clear and engaging strategic vision to key stakeholders within a similar environment, we would like to hear from you. Within your application, you will need to demonstrate excellent, high-level communication, collaboration and engagement skills and credibility within political, business and media circles.

In return, we offer a hugely rewarding and stimulating place to work – an opportunity to work for the public good and to stretch and develop yourself in doing so, combining intellectual challenge with high-profile, varied and compelling work. We also offer generous benefits, including an excellent pension scheme, at least 25 days leave (increasing to 30 over five years), and generous maternity/paternity leave provision. You can also take advantage of interest-free season ticket loans, a cycle to work scheme, our employee wellbeing programme and favourable consideration of flexible working.

The CMA values and promotes diversity and is committed to equality for all. We welcome applications from under-represented groups.
