The Money and Pension Service is a new organisation that brings together the free services delivered by the Money Advice Service, The Pensions Advisory Service and Pension Wise. We are an Arms-Length organisation, sponsored by the Department for Work and Pensions, with a joint commitment to ensuring that people have access and guidance to the information they need to make effective financial decisions over their lifetime. We are now recruiting for an exciting new role at the heart of our vision of everyone making the most of their money and pensions

About the role

As the Head of Debt Policy and Strategy, you will play an important role in clearly articulating the vision for MAPS debt policy and strategy, and how this fits within the wider financial capability landscape. You will also be the external face of debt policy and strategy within the sector, speaking at conferences, round tables and events.

You will:

• Lead the development of MAPS’ debt policy, ensuring a consistent and cohesive position and direction on emerging issues
• Maintain strong and trusted relationships with the strategic partners who are essential to the delivery of the Debt Strategy
• Work with government and third sector and industry stakeholders on relevant initiatives that affect our service offering or our customers
• Provide the organisation with a deep understanding of the debt landscape, advising the management board and identifying key strategic risks and opportunities for MAPS in relation to corporate policy, propositions and our advice and guidance model

This is a high profile role in the debt sector with a huge social impact – nine million people are over indebted in the UK, according to DWP figures, and working closely with colleagues, you will play a major role in remedying this.

About you

You will have the creativity and imagination to take a fresh look at the debt landscape and bring innovation, insight and new ideas. 

You will also be an experienced leader with a proven ability in articulating and winning support for a compelling strategic vision. You will have an expert knowledge of the UK debt agenda, with trusted stakeholder relationships established across the sector.
