Are you ready to lead the growth for one of the UK’s leading Contaminated Land Experts.

Our client is one of the leading remediation and Brownfield Works contractors in the UK. Part of a global group, they provide integrated environmental services across the UK and in multiple markets.

By using their expertise to identify and manage risk for customers, they maximise value and certainty, and are able to implement multiple technologies to address a wide and complex range of contaminants in both soil and groundwater. With their own in-house remediation plant they provide the flexibility to react quickly to customer requirements and benefit from on-going technological innovation. They have work on a wide range of sites including gasworks, petro-chemical refineries, chemical works, waste lagoons, landfills, petrol stations, manufacturing sites, military sites and engineering works.

Now being the strongest contributor within the group, the company have their eyes set firmly on doubling their UK revenue and profit by the end of 2020. This will be achieved by taking advantage of more opportunities with new customers as well as growing their presence and work with existing ones. While their clients are spread across the UK, there are a large number of opportunities within the South East which are not sufficiently being taken advantage of. In particular, increasing and improving their relationships with the commercial development sector would play a large part in achieving their plan.

As such, our client are clear they will only be able to achieve this with the appointment of a Commercial Director who can focus on strategic UK business development and devote sufficient time and resources to securing more opportunities in the South East.

Profile

In particular the candidate will have a track record of developing new and repeat-business and improving profitability with a proven background in at least one of the following:

  • Land Redevelopment; Contaminated Ground Remediation; Ground Engineering; Waste Management; Ground Enabling works

Also important:

  • Strong networking capability and key contacts within Developers / Local Authorities / Ground Engineering Contractors / London Developments
  • At least significant experience at senior level within the land redevelopment and/or land remediation market, preferably in London
  • Strong team-building background with a ‘people-orientated’ attitude
  • Developed business acumen including some financial background or experience (P&L, Project Management, etc.)

It is conceivable and accepted that an individual with experience outside the built environment could bring the rounded commercial and business skills to make this role work successfully.
