Excellent career development opportunity for an experienced Sun Finance Systems Accountant to lead the finance IT systems function for one of the largest housing associations in London and the south-east, providing homes for around 170,000 people.

The Head of Finance Systems Role

Responsible for Financial Systems Controller, Finance Systems Assistant and Finance Project Officer the Head of Finance Systems responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the effective operation of all finance IT systems, including the Sun accounting system and Compleat purchase order system (or any successor systems), with a particular focus on continuous improvement in relation to finance processes, and maximisation of system benefits
  • Building and maintain a good working relationship with the IT team and external system/software suppliers to ensure that the finance systems are fully embedded into the overall IT strategy
  • Overseeing and managing the reconciliation and interface process for all finance IT systems
  • Oversee and maintain an automated cashflow production process using the Sun accounting system (or any successor systems).

Head of Finance Systems Required Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

  • Significant experience of responsibility for maintaining the finance IT system aspects of the Sun accounting system
  • Significant experience of implementing and maintaining a robust finance IT systems control environment ensuring that all reconciliations and postings are carried out to timetable and an appropriate standard
  • Significant experience of working with large volumes of financial transactions on computerised financial systems
  • Significant practical experience in maintaining financial records and undertaking complex reconciliations.
  • Demonstrable ability to deliver training to staff on all finance systems, in both classroom and “one to one” settings
  • Demonstrable ability to produce clear procedure notes in plain English that explain to users exactly what is required in terms of use of systems
  • Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Word, and advanced Excel
  • Clear understanding of the regulatory framework of accounting demonstrated by either an accounting qualification or significant experience working in a financial environment
  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA) or equivalent (Desirable)
