Contract Type

This is a truly exciting opportunity for a driven and dynamic finance professional to play a key role in the development of two of the UK’s leading independent schools. The successful candidate will be joining an innovative and successful foundation, supported by one of the oldest Livery Companies in London whose charitable purpose is delivered through its support and provision of education through a number of different schools across the UK. Dating back to the 17th Century, the Schools have a great sense of history married with a dynamic approach to the future. With the relatively recent appointments of a new Chair and two Headteachers, combined with a restructure of the schools’ support services, this is a time of change: change underpinned by confidence and purpose.

The Director of Finance and Resources (DFR) is a new post for Haberdashers’ Aske’s Schools Elstree and the appointee will be leading and managing a cross-functional team including finance, HR and IT. They will ensure the excellent provision of services in a complex environment split between two sites, while also contributing at a more strategic level and proactively seeking opportunities to develop themselves professionally. The DFR will act as a strategic business partner to the Schools’ respective Headteachers, their leadership teams, and to the COO, to whom the DFR will report.

The Schools seek a qualified, experienced finance professional, with the gravitas necessary to quickly establish themselves with both academic and support staff. The DFR will be an outstanding financial leader while also being someone confident in their ability to oversee non-finance teams. Moreover, the DFR will be an excellent communicator with a real passion for education and the ethos of Haberdashers’ Aske’s Schools Elstree. Given the DFR’s responsibilities to both schools, they will also be expected to be intellectually robust, comfortable with complexity and sensitive to both the benefits and pressures created by a centralised team.

Saxton Bampfylde is acting as an employment agency advisor to Haberdashers’ Aske’s Schools Elstree on this appointment.
