Why do all* of the best FCs and FDs live in Sutton Coldfield?
A question that is asked quite frequently in our office.
Often followed by: why are all* the top jobs South of Birmingham?!!

Possibly a slightly generalist comment but lots of senior finance leaders are travelling from the leafy suburbs North of the 'Shire, down to Solihull, Warwick, Coventry as they can't find what they're looking for closer to home. Designated the '4th least deprived area' in the UK, Sutton Coldfield and surrounding areas are popular: the historic town was granted Royal status by King Henry VIII in the 16th century; the 2,400 acre Sutton Park has a mass of woodland and parks; it even has its own Donkey Sanctuary. Loads of golf courses, swimming pool, running track... And a plethora of restaurants and bars to retain balance.

There's some great property too - coupled with a low population density - great schools and transport links to the rest of the country. You can be in Birmingham City Centre inside 20 minutes, London in a couple of hours, or at your new employer's office in 15 minutes.

This business is seeking a technically strong, commercially savvy Finance Director to join them on their journey. It's a journey of continuous improvement - both business performance and process improvement - and they need someone to steer the ship. You'll hold the business accountable for their numbers and add real value to improving the sales and margin.

Further you'll instil strong governance and controls across the business; assessing what's fit for purpose and making sure things are done for a reason.

Above all, you'll have exemplary leadership skills - managing teams and stakeholders alike to deliver exceptional performance. You'll be from a large plc background, with a solid technical foundation and the communication and influencing skills to make things happen.
