St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a crucial regional hospital, the largest healthcare provider in South West London, serving a regional population of 3.5 million people, and a leading teaching hospital. The Trust provides healthcare services at St George’s Hospital in Tooting and Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton as well as a large number of therapy and health centres and other locations across South West London. The Foundation Trust has touched the lives of millions, both directly through its care and indirectly, as a key feature of the diverse community in which it sits, and through its exposure on Channel 4’s hugely popular documentary series, 24 Hours in A&E.

  • St George’s Hospital Charity is one of over 300 NHS charities across the country, supporting their local hospitals and healthcare services to provide services above those normally provided by the NHS. Leveraging its assets of circa £15m and generating around £2m a year through fundraising, our charity funds a range of initiatives: enhancing the environment through refurbishments and building projects to create better conditions for patients, staff and visitors.
  • Funding research.
  • Helping to fund state-of-the-art equipment.
  • Supporting St George’s staff through training and development.
  • Funding the Arts at St George’s Programme which delivers a wide range of engaging arts initiatives to support patients, families and staff.

We are looking for a new Director of Finance to work with our high-calibre board and Chief Executive to deliver an exciting new vision for the Charity, and a step-change in terms of the profile and performance of this special organisation. Our ambition over the coming years is to increase the levels of fundraising we generate, and thereby increase the impact we can have on patients, their families, staff and the local communities. To realise our significant potential, we need to streamline and modernise our operations and create a dynamic and high performing team.

We would welcome applications for this role from people with successful senior-level experience in strategic planning, administration, financial management and project control, and the ability to provide strong and inspiring leadership to our talented finance team.

St George’s Hospital Charity wants its staff to reflect modern society in all its diversity, and positively encourages applications from suitable qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, gender and or disability.
