Robert Walters: Finance Manager - Technical Accounting, Audit and Reporting

I am currently recruiting for a Finance Manager - Technical Accounting, Audit and Reporting, on a permanent basis within the Central Birmingham area for a leading organisation within their field, the salary for this position is between £55,000 and £85,000 per annum maximum depending on experience.

Please note: It is essential that any candidate for this role is ACA qualified and have experience working within Financial Services.

Salary: Between £55,000 and £85,000 per annum

Essential Requirements of Finance Manager - Technical Accounting, Audit and Reporting:

  • Establish the team's role within the IFRS 9 governance process and operating model, working closely with Credit Risk and Finance teams, aiming to become a centre of excellence for credit knowledge
  • Provide assurance over external disclosures and relevant Group disclosures to which the company is a material contributor
  • Review the credit disclosures to ensure best practice and compliance with regulatory standards (e.g. IFRS)
  • Attendance and challenge impairment forums, whilst also being tasked with providing assistance to the Financial Controller in their preparation for these forums
  • Production of analytics which support the review of IFRS 9 impairment results and the associated external disclosures
  • Production of peer analysis papers which contrast and compare the Group's external disclosure and ECL trends versus its peers
  • Maintain a robust and compliant control environment
  • Provide ad-hoc assistance to financial reporting, regulatory reporting, stress-testing and other stakeholders as required
  • Be knowledgeable in SOX and ensure compliance to those standards

Essential Skill Set of Finance Manager - Technical Accounting, Audit and Reporting:

  • ACA qualification is essential ideally Big 4
  • Financial reporting and external disclosure experience for a large financial institutions and solid experience of preparing or auditing published financial statements
  • Awareness of IFRS 9 and other relevant regulatory and best practice reporting issues
  • Ability to design, document and communicate analytical procedures to provide assurance over external financial statements
  • Experience of preparing technical/formal papers which are delivered to a senior management level
  • Knowledge of risk modelling concepts would be an advantage
  • Be a self-starter/motivated - ability to work with minimum supervision with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage stakeholder expectations
  • To field, analyse and solve unstructured problems/queries and to challenge existing procedures
  • Communicate complex financial issues confidently to line management
  • Work to strict deadlines, under pressure and be a team player
  • Keen to learn/ask questions/progress
  • Hyperion/Saracen experience would be an advantage
