This position will appeal to a world-class operations professional with a background in the manufacture of bespoke precision engineered capital products coupled with complex project delivery. The client is part of a well-regarded international group, it has a turnover of c£50million with c300 colleagues and its processes include design, development, manufacturing, assembly, test and service aftermarket support for its precision engineered products and systems. It supplies a global marketplace in sectors such as defence, oil and gas, rail and industrial to name some in which the demands for quality and fulfilment are renowned.
The focus of this role is to lead the business, successfully deliver on all projects to plan and to budget through design, manufacturing and assembly. You will improve OTD performance and get the best out of an experienced team which includes heads of operations, engineering, quality, health and safety, supply chain and HR. You will be accountable on a P&L / cost centre basis for the business, with strong dotted lines to group functions in finance and engineering. You will achieve customer quality and performance targets, manage multiple stakeholders, ensure that stage gated world-class project delivery processes are in place and successfully introduce new products into the mix.
You will need to be a graduate qualified mechanical engineer, possibly also with an MBA and be on an upward trajectory in your career. You will have a track record that demonstrates clear progression through operations and projects in world-class companies, have excellent planning and project delivery skills and be fully up to date with lean principles. You will have a real strength in developing high performing teams, bring a participative style and be a motivator who will enthuse your team to produce excellence and built in quality at all stages. You will need to have worked in an environment which is characterised by complex precision mechanical products / systems and specifically rotating equipment, gear systems, complex machinery or capital equipment manufacturing are all potentially of interest.
