Members, Financial Services Consumer Panel

The Financial Services Consumer Panel (the Panel) is an independent statutory body. It represents the interests and concerns of consumers of financial services, primarily to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

The Panel aims to ensure consumer interest is taken account of in developing and implementing financial services policy and regulation. It advises the FCA on its policies and practices, and on its effectiveness. It considers how conduct regulation can improve consumer outcomes.

The Panel is looking to appoint several new members over 2019 and 2020 to replace outgoing Panel members who will have reached the end of their term of office.

The Role(s)

Panel members have the opportunity to contribute to vital topics impacting financial services consumers across the whole spectrum of the industry. The roles require the ability to analyse new initiatives and policy from the consumer perspective, working across the breadth of the FCA’s activities.

Members are accountable for leading on consultation responses and contributing on specific issues; representing the Panel within the FCA; and contributing to projects and the Panel’s forward agenda.

The individual(s)

Successful candidates will possess a high level of integrity and be able to demonstrate experience of collaborative working with senior professionals at Board, Panel or Committee level.

They must demonstrate the ability to analyse issues from a consumer perspective, and quickly grasp a wide range of complex financial issues. They may have worked in a sector in which the needs of the end customer is paramount (for example financial services, utilities, the airline industry, retail or manufacturing), and likely in a customer orientated role.

Panel members commit 35 days per annum.

This appointment will be made by the FCA. The FCA values and promotes diversity and is committed to equality of opportunity for all. All appointments are made on merit.
