Are you ready to shape the future of hospice care for hundreds of thousands of adults and children?

Havens Hospices is proud of its heritage - from its founding in 1983 by a group of local Christians, the creation of the first children's hospice in south east England to the first organisation to secure joint HAQU accreditation for its adult and children's care, our achievements are something to be proud of.

But now we're looking forward. A new, purpose built adult hospice is on the horizon, transition care is a hot topic, palliative care in the community is expanding and the way we secure statutory funding is changing.

The Chief Executive Officer will lead the Charity through these changes, pioneering the specialist care only our hospices provide in the area. But, most of all, taking responsibility to ensure we're 'Making every day count' for everyone we care for.

We are looking for a Chief Executive Officer who will:
  • Be responsible for efficient and effective management and leadership of Havens Hospices, providing expert knowledge of hospice services for all ages
  • Have overall responsibility for financial management of the charitable company, including the Company Secretary responsibilities as directed by the Trustees
  • Act as ambassador for the Charity, ensuring it retains its standing and reputation within the communities it serves
  • Work with the Trustees to set and deliver the strategic direction and development of the hospice services in line with national and local policies and legislation, providing visible leadership throughout the organisation.

This is a demanding role, requiring excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to foster good working relationship with the Trustees, Executive, and staff and volunteers across the whole organisation; and with external organisations and partners.

You will be an effective communicator with strong empathy with the Charity's vision and goals and ability to communicate a vision across different audiences.

Ideally you will be able to demonstrable a track record of leading and managing similar successful clinical and financial operations for a large healthcare provider and growing services in size and scope. You should also have management and leadership qualifications or significant equivalent knowledge and experience to be able to fulfil this role.

You will have a proven track record gained from exercising a lead role at senior or board level along with an understanding of current practice and systems of governance. This will help you be prepared to exercise the skills and competencies required to meet the demands of the role as it continues to evolve over time.
