Job Details

Are you interested in working with Assembly Members from across the political spectrum to hold the Mayor to account and investigate issues of importance to Londoners?

Allen Lane is  working with GLA's London Assembly to recruit two talented individuals to join its dynamic and highly-regarded scrutiny team, where you will be investigating some of the key challenges facing London and examining the Mayor’s policies to address them.

We are looking for two interim Policy Specialists with excellent research, analysis and project management skills, the ability to create high quality written outputs, as well as experience working in a political environment or with politicians. The posts will cover the following specialist areas:

Senior Policy Adviser – Housing, Planning and Regeneration (Job share)

Experience working in and knowledge of at least one of the following policy areas – housing, planning, regeneration – is essential.

On a day to day basis, you will be liaising with politicians and their teams, gathering and analysing evidence from a range of sources, developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, and formulating credible recommendations for action. You will also be responsible for managing project teams for your policy areas, and ensuring that we deliver innovative, robust and high-quality work.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in dealing with a wide range of stakeholders inside and outside City Hall – including senior elected politicians. If you enjoy creative thinking, working in a fast-paced, political environment, and have strong research and drafting skills, this job could be perfect for you.

Please indicate in your application which of the following roles you are applying for.

London's diversity is its biggest asset and the GLA strive to ensure their workforce reflects London's diversity at all levels. We welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking part time work as this role is open to job share.

This will be a quick start so if you have the required skills for this position and are looking for a new challenge then please apply. Please note that due to the urgent time frames on this post applications will be reviewed prior to closing date and as such immediate application is recommended.
