Our client is a long-established, successful and growing family business with ambitious goals to lead the way in their industry are looking for a Group Finance Director. 

The group is a family-run distribution, software, online sales and high-end products group of companies generating £55m turnover, has 270 employees and 8 locations. 

Role Overview 

Job title: Group Finance Director. 

Role and responsibilities

The Group Finance Director will operate across all parts of the business and oversee the finance function for all group companies. They will have a hands-on approach with a focus on building the company’s own brand lines.  

This person will lead the finance function and sit on the Group Board. 

Primary responsibilities will include: 

  • Managing the operational and commercial finance function of the group including taking direct line responsibility for 7 team members
  • Creating and maintaining the group and individual accounts, budget and forecasts
  • Managing all financial compliance including tax returns, statutory accounts, consolidated accounts and managing the audit
  • Overhead control including supplier reviews, budgetary investigations and overhead management
  • Producing comprehensive Board papers, attend Board meetings and present to the Board of Directors as required
  • Supporting the Group and Subsidiary MDs and developing strong relationships amongst senior team
  • Contributing to the strategic planning for the company on finance, M&A, and strategy, attending all meetings as required and implementing decisions as appropriate. 
  • Managing the financing arrangement and relationships with banks

Key candidate requirements

Successful candidates will: 

  • Be fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent and experience in managing multiple business units
  • Have experience in a larger family business, with different business units is preferable but not essential.
  • Having a commercial background is preferable.  
  • Have project management experience
  • Demonstrate strong people management
