The Role

The Operations Director will oversee the primary physical assets of the company; the purchasing, warehousing and distribution of a product inventory.
and be an integral part of the corporate management team participating in.

My Client needs someone who has an understanding of a Global supply chain, particularly throughout the EMEA. If you are a strong leader who has a solid understanding of the Motorsport or Automotive market with a keen eye on engines, exhausts, gears and drivechains then this is most certainly the role for you. This role encompaces:

Developing long term strategies and tactics.
Global intercompany coordination and cooperation.
Creating an annual operations budget and action plan.
Determining company policy and procedures.
Insuring good corporate governance.
Delivering the profit expectations of the shareholders.
Identifying areas of improvement and developing plans to boost company efficiency.
Work with senior management to encourage staff development and high quality performance.

The Operations Director will have direct day to day responsibility for the following:

Purchasing - Monitor purchasing activity to continually rationalize the lowest inventory value with the highest availability. Ensure that purchasing policies and procedures select vendors who best balance the equation of low cost, product quality and consistent supply. Personally help identify new sources or new in house or contract manufacturing opportunities.
Warehouse - Monitor warehouse operations to insure that stock is properly stored to reduce losses and damage, maintain discipline on movement tracking, and insure proper perpetual inventory procedure. Orchestrate the efficient use of resources and manpower in order to ensure timely processing & dispatch of orders at lowest possible freight cost.
Distribution - Monitor distribution activity to ensure that the function works efficiently and the goods are transported throughout the company effectively. Oversee and maintain the external logistics function of the third party shipping agents/couriers, ensuring we have the best rates & contracts available
Health & Safety - Develop & enforce the company's H&S policy & protocols in line with current regulations. Ensure that all branches are trained and supported in all aspects of H&S. Take an active role in creating a safe workplace.
Facilities - Ensure the infrastructure and buildings are maintained in a cost effective and safe manner. Oversee all works carried out.

Skills & Qualifications

Extensive distribution/logistics experience
Senior/department manager level experience
Degree or industry equivalent qualifications (CIPS Prefered)
Proven success with leadership & team building.
Strong financial management & budget development.
Good knowledge of business principles & functions (e.g. supply, sales, marketing, finance).
Health & Safety qualified with knowledge of legal requirements.
Highly MS office literate.

SALARY: £80,000 - £90,000 + Benefits DOE
