Client Details
The client is a Financial Services business based in the Midlands.
Description:
- Manage the delivery of a portfolio / programme in accordance with the Society's governance and corporate policies for change and quality management
- Provide line management support for senior project and project managers within designated portfolio practice (including recruitment). Set, manage and review their performance / development goals
- Work with the business to shape and challenge the business case for projects to ensure the right transition approach for successful realisation of the business benefits
- Responsible for the prioritisation and delivery of projects to be included within a portfolio or programme in order to deliver the required business outcome
- Manage different stakeholder expectations, including external third party suppliers
- Manage uncertainty and understand the impacts within the portfolio / programme and across the wider business
- Plan and schedule the work of the projects within the portfolio / programme and monitor performance
- Troubleshoot areas of conflict between projects. Identify and facilitate the prioritisation of options
- Manage the trade-off between benefit, risk, budget and delivery elements
- Maintain awareness of change taking place across the business and its industry that could impact the portfolio / programme
- Production of project reports in line with the programme reporting schedule, ensuring steering group and ExCo updates are issued on time and to the expected level of quality
- Establish and maintain appropriate best practice for portfolio, programme and project management techniques. Develop opportunities for improvement and efficiency
- Agree and manage their personal development plan and seek opportunities to improve their business and technical skills in line with their career goals
Profile:
- Advanced stakeholder management skills, including negotiation and conflict management skills
- Advanced communication and presentation skills (verbal, written, listening). Ability to successfully adapt to diverse people and situations
- Strong analytical and organisation skills. Takes a lead in analysing and interpreting internal or external business issues that may impact the portfolio / programme and recommends solutions / best practices
- Able to draw on a wide variety or resources to detect and resolve complex problems and takes a corporate perspective to identify and recommend solutions
- Works independently with guidance in only the most complex situations
- Fully conversant with technology and the delivery of diverse technical solutions
- Experienced in managing key third party supplier relationships
- Advanced planning, budget, monitoring and reporting skills
- Recognised as an expert of portfolio / programme / project methodology, planning processes and techniques
- Experience of managing a minimum of 5 projects in a portfolio / programme on at least 3 times (staffing level of minimum 50+ / combined budget > £2m / average project duration of 9 - 12 months)
- Significant experience project management experience within financial services delivering mortgages or savings related change
- Managing Successful Programmes (MSP), Prince 2 / APMP accredited
- Required to be educated to degree level
