Cancer Research UK (CRUK) is the world’s largest cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research. We have an annual income of about £650m, put back about £500m into research, influencing and provision of information, and fund about two-thirds of cancer research in the United Kingdom. We are looking for two new trustees to join our Council. This is a unique opportunity to play a crucial role in setting the agenda for basic and translational science and contribute to policies around cancer prevention and care.
We are looking for basic or translational scientists with experience of engagement with patient care in the NHS and who have the ability to contribute to our on-going strategic development. You will bring knowledge, experience and specialism in at least one of the following areas: working in the NHS at a level where financial and strategic decisions are made; clinical/translational oncology, epidemiology, genetics or immunology.
You will understand the role of a charity trustee and demonstrate the ability to contribute constructively to a high-quality and collaborative Board environment. You will have excellent inter-personal and communication skills, sound judgement and integrity.
