 3 Verulam Buildings (3VB) is a leading commercial set of more than eighty Barristers, of whom nearly thirty are Queen’s Counsel. Ambitious, driven, and competing with the ‘magic circle’, 3VB is a chambers with enormous potential. Particularly regarded as one of the principal sources of advocacy and advice in banking and finance law, it provides legal services across a broad range of commercial law, in the UK and internationally. 3VB’s vision is to be consistently recognised as a leader in its fields, appearing in the most important national and international cases, while being a collegiate and supportive working environment for Members of Chambers, Associate Members, and staff.

3VB now seeks a Chambers Director, who will support the set’s ambitious agenda. Reporting to, and sitting on, the Management Board, they will take responsibility for leading staff, guiding and enabling the Barristers, and contributing to the creation and execution of 3VB’s strategy. The role requires an excellent manager, with the ability to inspire and motivate others, who can pivot quickly between broad, long-term thinking and specific, immediate action to ensure that 3VB is an excellent place to be day-to-day and year-to-year. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for finance, HR, IT and all other aspects of the operations of the set: including working with Barristers to enhance their standing and experience.

The successful applicant will have occupied a senior executive role in a respected organisation, with responsibility for development and implementation of strategy. Experience and a successful track record in developing professional services businesses with private sector clients would be an advantage, but equivalent experience will also be considered. Candidates not from a legal background will need to bring themselves up to date on issues facing the Bar and show an affinity with the important work of the profession.
