The Liberation Group (www.liberationgroup.com), is a vertically integrated brewery and pub group, with two breweries (Butcombe in the UK and Liberation in the Channel Islands), three distribution centres, circa 40 managed pubs, and circa 70 tenanted sites, operating across the South West and Channel Islands. They operate across four divisions – UK brewery & distribution, managed pubs, tenanted pubs and Channel Islands brewery & distribution. The management team are backed by Caledonia Investments plc (www.caledonia.com) who are LSE listed.
Caledonia invested in Liberation Group in 2016 and since then have invested significantly in pub acquisitions and developments, in addition to a new UK distribution centre and bottling line. They have further funds available for investment in pubs this year and the ambition is to grow the business organically and through further pub developments and acquisitions in the South West.
You will focus on generating commercial advantage from both the development and proactive use of business systems, performance monitoring and financial engineering. Stewardship of the accounting function, as well as strong IT skills, are taken as read but added value is actively sought in the wider commercial debate on mix, margin and yield. In conjunction with the Divisional MD and the Senior Management Team, you will determine strategies for driving growth and increasing profitability by identifying key operational issues and by bringing organisational structure and team building skills to the business. Based at the Bristol (Wrington) office above the Brewery, you will also be responsible for the Bridgwater Distribution Centre and bottling line.
Technical capability is a given and commercial acumen is essential. Quality is the essential criteria – You are a graduate qualified accountant, with a proven manufacturing/wholesale/distribution sector background. You are proactive and incisive, energetic with a positive attitude, highly professional with strong gravitas and presence, well versed in managing complex and demanding stakeholders. Key is the ability to flourish in a tight knit, entrepreneurial management team who are not afraid of getting their hands dirty at the coal face. This is a unique opportunity to join a Group which is growing both organically and by acquisition, fuelled by collective enterprise and clear leadership. A genuine success story, it has to be one of the best roles of its type in the UK but, based in the West Country.
