Reporting to the Deputy Governor, Prudential Regulation, this is an exceptional opportunity to join the Central Bank’s senior leadership team. The Director, Insurance Supervision will join the Central Bank at a fascinating time, to lead a directorate of over one hundred people with responsibility for the authorisation and prudential supervision of the regulated insurance and re-insurance undertakings in Ireland. The role holder will make a sizeable contribution to the delivery of the Central Bank’s mission, including:

  • Developing and driving delivery of the insurance supervision strategy, with the aim of ensuring the proper functioning of the insurance market in Ireland and abroad
  • Contributing to the Central Bank’s approach to safeguarding financial stability and protection of consumers
  • Having a significant role in the wider delivery of the Central Bank’s strategy as a member of senior leadership team

What are we looking for?

The person requires extensive leadership experience, with a clear understanding of the structure and operations of the insurance industry. The successful candidate is likely to have a strong background in financial services, but candidates with relevant experience (e.g. risk management, regulation) from other sectors will be considered.  We are ideally seeking a person with significant leadership and people management expertise, demonstrated through operating as a member of an organisation’s leadership team within large complex organisations.  The person will need in depth management experience in a regulatory, compliance or risk management environment and an ability to effectively challenge senior industry leaders

This role will be filled on a five year fixed term contract.
