This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced qualified Financial Controller to help develop the future direction of the finance department at what is an extremely exciting time of growth and development for the business, through organic expansion and international acquisitions. The business has a turnover of c 30m and is very profitable with a strong track record of year-on-year profitable growth. The business has a blue chip customer base in several different sectors and provides them with business-critical products and materials. Innovation is at the heart of everything the business does and new products and services are always just around the corner.

Management of the finance team is key, providing strong leadership, motivation & development. Finance needs become an integral part of the business so working with other departments to integrate Finance and improving the Finance offering will be key.  

The successful applicant will possess strong interpersonal & leadership skills. A self-starter, interacting well with members of the company’s management teams up & down the organisation and with external advisors.

The role requires the ability to deliver high quality information to tight deadlines requiring someone  who is  in the detail and curious to discover what is behind the numbers.

Scope:

  • Day to day operation and management of the Finance Function for multiple sites
  • Development and motivation of the Finance team
  • Maximising efficient/smarter working practices and proactively looking for ways to improve the business and adding value to Operations
  • Production of management accounts, including consolidation and Board reports
  • Responsible for Annual budget, 3 Year plan and Forecast with analysis of movements, changes and assumptions
  • Development of  finance reporting systems (Adaptive & MAX) and improvements. Assist with the implementation of a new system in the future.
  • Production of daily, weekly & monthly management information
  • Reporting to Private Equity Investors and other key stakeholders
  • Treasury management – cash flow, bank monitoring & adherence to covenants, foreign exchange management including hedges
  • VAT, TAX & Other statistical reporting
  • Responsible for compliance to Accounting standards & regulatory requirements
  • Statutory audit, Corporation Tax and R&D Tax credit
  • Responsible for accurate standard costings and targeting ways to reduce costs
  • Understanding manufacturing variances and working to improve them
  • Involvement in & leading projects at departmental and companywide level
  • Support acquisition accounting which may, in time, include some travel abroad
  • Deputising for the Finance Director
