Apprenticeships – if you believe they’re important – read on...

We are looking for senior, accomplished professionals from all sectors who want a voice in the development of Apprenticeships and Technical Education. Here at the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education, we create and review apprenticeship standards, technical qualifications and assessment plans. If you can offer outstanding occupational knowledge, exceptional experience and a true understanding of the needs of your sector - we need you!

Our mission is to provide better access, for all, to the highest quality, genuine occupational opportunities, so, to succeed, our work must be employer-led. Your insight will keep our work aligned with the current and future needs of the workplace - ensuring technical education courses and apprenticeships deliver the competent individuals who will be the brightest lights in your sector, tomorrow.

We are currently looking for a diverse representation of experts, from all occupations, to join our 15 Route Panels.

What’s the role?

As a Route Panel Member, you would consider and discuss submissions for the development of the different elements of apprenticeships and T Level qualifications, in your field. You would help us to develop a holistic, strategic view of the needs of your sector, identifying occupational skills gaps and diversity challenges and developing our approach. We would also ask you to be employer ambassadors for the work of the Institute.

What are we looking for?

Professional credibility and Members’ ability to take a strategic view, are vital to the Panels’ success. We’re looking for a track record of achievement and the recent, specialist expertise, which positions Members to offer an authoritative view on the occupational requirements of specific roles.

Our Members offer their time on a voluntary basis, although we reimburse all reasonable travel and subsistence expenses and pay our Chairs a nominal fee.

How to apply

So, if are passionate about the future of your occupation and the skills it needs –take a look at our current members here or apply to become a Route Panel Member today.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, as they are under-represented in this area of our work. Company

The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education is an employer led crown Non Departmental Public Body.

We oversee the development, approval and publication of apprenticeship standards and assessment plans as well as the occupational maps for T Levels and apprenticeships.

The Institute is responsible for Technical Qualifications, which is the main, classroom-based element of the T Level. T Levels are two-year technical study programmes that will become one of three major options for students to study at level 3 alongside apprenticeships and A levels.

We work with employer groups called trailblazers to develop apprenticeship standards and assessment plans, as well as, making recommendations on funding bands to the Department for Education for each apprenticeship standard.

The Institute has a role overseeing External Quality Assurance (EQA) across all EQA providers to ensure quality, consistency and credibility. We are accountable for the quality of apprenticeships and technical education.
