VP of Operations/Operations Director - Home or office based with up to 40% international travel.

The Company

GMA are delighted to be working in partnership to recruit a VP/Operations Director for an international business, that are part of a worldwide organisation. The company is the specialist engineered solutions business that supports some of the world most critical and demanding applications. Typical industries they operate in include, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Automotive, and aerospace markets.

With their expertise and knowledge, they are able to provide optimum engineered solutions for challenging applications based on design, materials and operating requirements ensuring cost effective, efficient and reliable solutions.

Due to growth they are now looking to appoint an experienced and highly polished operations leader to their business.

The Role

As the VP/Operations Director for the business you will report to the President, whereby you will be responsible for 4 business units in the UK, Europe and the USA, with headcount being around 300.

Key functions of the role
  • Responsible for the direction, strategy, planning and execution of the engineered solutions business with a mixture of high volume, standard based products through to low volume, higher value bespoke solutions.
  • To coordinate Manufacturing, Procurement, Planning, Engineering and Maintenance functions across different sites.
  • Support all sites to meet customer demand, progressively driving performance in line with agreed quality standards, SOPs and CI techniques.
  • To provide an excellent service to all customers both internally and externally ensuring clear and concise communication.
  • To consistently achieve and exceed KPI's in terms of Health and Safety, Quality and Efficiency across manufacturing, engineering & maintenance, planning and purchasing.
  • Responsible for delivering a high degree of improvement of the processes through implementing Lean techniques with a focus on process optimisation.

•Ensure that, as the company grows, manufacturing capabilities meet or exceed all industry and customer requirements for cost, quality and responsiveness.

•Improving methodologies, which would include improving of the quality and the process of manufacturing.

•Maintaining the efficiency, quality and safety of the manufacturing process. Whether it is new or old technology, new or existing products- the manufacturing director is responsible for the quality of all.

•Work closely with the President on manufacturing plans, goals, and future product innovations.
  • To lead by example, upholding company values to facilitate change and develop employees to meet their potential as individuals and to fulfil business needs.
  • To show role model behaviours in relation to building trust and solid relationships across the division and locally at sites.

This is a role where you will need to show your leadership, performance management, motivation, financial/commercial and coaching abilities across the board.

The role will be home/office based or a mixture of the two, with plenty of international travel involved.

The Candidate

Ideally you will be based in the Lancashire/Yorkshire region with the following criteria

•Minimum of 10 years of working experience within high volume manufacturing environment

•International Management experience.

•Experience of Continuous Improvement/lean techniques and methodologies

•Great operational skills.

•Responsible and efficient professional.

•Good managerial skills.

•Outgoing in nature.

•Business and financial skills.

•Able to build relationships and trust quickly.

•High Degree in education.

Must be willing to travel and spend time away from home.
