You will support the digital first ambition of the university, and ensure its stories are told in the most relevant and audience-focused manner, as well as taking a lead on digital best practice for the university and manage a team of Digital Communications staff, within a wider marketing group, and work closely with an in-house web development team, as well as internal engagement staff whose primary channels are the university's staff and student intranets.

Key duties will include:

Leadership in digital communication:
Lead the creation of dynamic and engaging web content that is data / insight driven, which supports Royal Holloway's digital first ambition and is consistent with its brand.
Be at the forefront of new thinking for digital engagement and be able to turn ideas into action so that we maximise the opportunity that our website represents.
Be attuned to the user experience on the website and be restless in identifying ways to maximise engagement by enhancing the user journey and SEO.
Become recognised as the expert in web content generation, functionality, architecture and curation. As such, be a 'go to person' for advice and counsel.

Updates / Project management:
Lead and manage small and large scale projects which enable new functionality / design / content to be added to the website in ways that enhance the UX.
Manage activity to ensure updates are implemented according to an agreed priority schedule as well as providing expertise to help ensure decisions around rescheduling and reprioritisation are considered at a strategic and tactical level.
Provide, as agreed, reports into the success of digital activity, insights and recommendations to inform future development.

Collaboration and support:
Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the website including, where relevant, supporting the purchase of new products and services.
Own digital guidelines and a content strategy that enable and empower staff across college to manage their own pages and channels, within a framework that ensures they are aligned and consistent with Royal Holloway's brand and narrative.
Provide digital expertise to colleagues in Marketing and Communications and be the primary liaison between Marketing and Communications and the in-house web development team.
Work with colleagues to create communication campaigns, championing a digital first ambition so that digital engagement is maximised in every campaign.

Develop, grow and maintain effective working relationships and networks with key individuals internally and externally within higher education.

Support some out-of-hours activities and events, in accordance with the College TOIL policy. This includes, but is not limited to Applicant Visit Days and Open Days.
Volunteer time during the working day to support College priorities such as, but not limited to, Graduation and NSS survey completion.

Any other duties as required by line manager or Director that are commensurate with the grade.

You will need experience in:

A range of web design/ development / management software. Examples could include Umbraco, Contensis, Terminal4, Dreamweaver, Visual Studio, Joomia or Drupal.

Proven ability to manage complex web build and web enhancement projects, using off the shelf and proprietary software / CMS systems, to improve online engagement.

Track record of developing creative, dynamic content that has been proven to engage the target audience.

This role is initially for 2 months with a view to extend just depending on the business needs.

My client is offering £436.10, INSIDE IR35.
