Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust provide hospital and community services for more than 526,000 people across South East London, serving our two hospitals – University Hospital Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich.

Reporting into the Chief Executive – Ben Travis, we are seeking to recruit a Chief Finance Officer (CFO) who will share corporate responsibility for the overall financial strategic direction and management of the Trust and contribute to the development and implementation of key objectives to deliver services that provide optimum patient care and ensure efficient use of resources.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with the ability to work in a complex and challenging environment, drawing on a range of financial planning and strategies, to ensure the Board receives the best possible advice and operates within available resources. As the CFO you will lead the development and delivery of the Trust financial strategy, providing expert financial advice to the Trust about key investment decisions and ensuring the Trust operates within the resources available, in order to deliver its strategic plan. You will also be responsible for ensuring that robust processes are in place, with defined measured targets, to specifically monitor and account for performance against financial objectives and relevant external metrics and standards.

The successful candidate must be an intelligent, credible, professionally qualified accountant with exemplary leadership skills, high standards and strong attention to detail. You must be a naturally strategic thinker, and a robust, clear communicator to enable you to build effective relationships and influence challenging individuals at all levels, both within and outside of the organisation. The successful candidate will likely come from a comparably sized organisation within the public or commercial sectors.  Having experience of developing teams and instilling a positive culture is essential in this appointment.
