Job Details
Waltham Forest is an ambitious place.
We are ambitious for our people, our communities and our services.
We are currently looking for a Strategic PMO Lead to come and lead our agile PMO of the future, working at the heart of our integrated change management practice. We will look to you to create a project management centre of excellence, innovating and embracing agile practice, while providing the frameworks of governance and assurance to secure successful delivery of change at pace. You will play a key role in enabling our Creating Futures corporate strategy and the Corporate Development Department as a whole.
About the role
Right now there is a buzz about Waltham Forest. Bursting with culture, energy and opportunity, Waltham Forest is a place people want to live, raise a family and start a business. We are fundamentally changing the way we work, building relationships, connecting people, harnessing our unique opportunities and the power of new technology to create strong, sustainable and self-reliant communities. To deliver this radical future, we are transforming our approach to the management of change, creating a Change Agency to deliver seamless transformation across the Council. Our Strategic PMO will be the engine room for the corporate development directorate and its change activity, prioritising continuous improvement and optimising for speed, cost and ease of delivery.
Working as part of the leadership of the Change Management service, as Strategic PMO Lead you will be responsible for managing a team reporting to the Council’s management board at project, programme and portfolio level and delivering the pipeline for change. Adopting a sprint planning approach to delivery you will develop a PPM centre of excellence including all necessary tools, processes and templates. The scope of this work is extremely broad and ambitious, supporting the development and delivery of Programmes and Projects across the Council. Your commitment and expertise will support the ongoing transformation of the Council and help enhance services to all residents and service users.
About you
This is an important leadership role at the heart of the Council’s delivery for the future, driving and improving our approach to successful project, programme and portfolio management. To succeed it is vital that you can evidence successful leadership of projects and programmes, adopting agile/lean techniques. You will be an effective leader and manager of teams, both directly and matrixed. You will be able to write reports and communicate effectively at all levels including the Council’s leadership. Our culture is one where pace and delivery are highly valued and essential to successful performance.
