Independent Chair

The Mid & South Essex Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP) is leading an ambitious transformation programme to improve the health and wellbeing of our 1.2m residents. Formed from 17 constituent partners, we are a complex system undergoing significant redesign including an acute services reconfiguration, development of our local health and care offer and exciting digital and workforce programmes. We now require an outstanding Independent Chair to lead the Partnership as it builds on the work delivered to date and progresses towards an Integrated Care System.

While we have much to be proud of given the improvements that have been delivered in outcomes and performance across our STP, we recognise that there are many opportunities for further achievement. We have big plans for Mid and South Essex, and to help us realise these as our Independent Chair you will be a strong leader and skilled facilitator with the ability to work through a complex stakeholder landscape. Alongside driving our vision and values in tandem with the STP Members, you will bring extensive governance experience and a strategic approach to addressing the population health challenges facing our system, guiding us in the development of new models of care.

Success in this role will require an Independent Chair who can offer drive, energy and commitment, while showcasing an outstanding track record of success at Board level gained in public, private, education, political or voluntary sector settings. Regardless of your professional background, you will have the ability to hold the system to account, managing differing priorities and ambitions to ensure success in a collective decision making group, whilst also acting as an ambassador of our system, establishing strong relationships with wider local, regional and national stakeholders.
