Bristol City Council is on an ambitious organisational transformation journey, playing a leading role in helping create an inclusive city that empowers people to be successful. In this new role, you will strengthen the Bristol Holding Company (Bristol Holding Limited) and play a pivotal role in the management of the council’s shareholdings, by developing a strong strategic and performance management framework for the trading company boards to operate within.

We have ambitious plans for our existing suite of companies, (Bristol Energy, Bristol Waste, Goram Homes), in addition to further opportunities in the Housing, Energy infrastructure and Smart Technologies sectors, offering a mix of social value and commercial opportunity for our city. Our delivery vehicles will take different company forms, such as Joint Ventures, wholly owned and grant funded trading companies.

You will bring a commercial portfolio approach to the delivery of financial and social returns and ensure that our future governance structure delivers assurance and regulatory compliance, as well as financial efficiency across both the council and companies.

A strategic leader with a diverse range of skills at Board level, you will demonstrate a track record in leading teams to high levels of sustainable service improvement and commercialisation in a similar context. This is a 2 year Fixed Term Contract. Likely working 3 days a week, you will be used to working across a range of business operations concurrently.
