The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust (WCMT) runs the Churchill Fellowships, a unique and inspiring programme of travel grants that fund UK citizens to learn from the world and transform lives across the UK. The Fellowship was created by public subscription in 1965 on the death of Sir Winston Churchill, as his as the living legacy. Since then we have made over 5,500 grants to inspiring individuals who possess the passion and commitment to make a real difference. For many, it has been a life-changing opportunity.

The Trust is now recruiting a Director of Finance & Resources, reporting to the Chief Executive, Julia Weston. The role encompasses all aspects of financial management and reporting, operational support of the Trust’s investment management activities, preparations for Trustee meetings, risk management, the Trust’s governance, oversight of IT and its development and all HR activities. It also includes working with the Chief Executive on strategic planning, business planning and forecasting as well as helping to assess, develop and deliver new strategic initiatives.

This is a hands-on role which will require a willingness to be on top of the detail as much as the strategy. Strong interpersonal skills and a high level of emotional intelligence are critical as well as a genuine interest in and empathy for the Trust’s purposes. Candidates will be dynamic self-starters who are natural team players. They will have run a finance function and had broad experience beyond that and they will be qualified accountants. Previous experience of the charitable sector is desirable but not essential.

Saxton Bampfylde Ltd is acting as employment agency advisor to the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust on this appointment. For further information about the role, including details about how to apply, please visit www.saxbam.com/appointments using reference FANGB. For any additional support please telephone +44 (0)20 7227 0880 (during office hours). Applications should be received by noon on Monday 13 May 2019.
