Head of Business Applications - Law Firm

 The Head of Business Applications will be responsible for the operational management of internal and third party products and applications within the firm and  accountable for management of application life cycles, support and relationships with third parties. The Head of Business Applications will be responsible for managing the team of analysts and developers that maintain and configure these products on a day to day basis.

This is a demanding role that requires a leader with an analytical mind-set capable of obtaining a solid understanding of the systems used by the firm globally, alongside a dedication to customer service that meets our exceptional standards. The candidate must be able to use initiative, be highly motivated, organised and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leads and manages the teams responsible for the configuration, maintenance and support of In-House developed and 3rd party products
• Responsible for the recruitment, training and management of the team on a day to day basis
• Maintains application health and services in a sustainable manner. Implements and then monitors service levels and application health metrics for key products and applications
• Coordinates application lifecycle planning and feeds into annual budgeting process with respect to planned upgrades and improvements
• Identifies and tracks areas for improvement in the management of products and services. Identifies and implements changes to internal procedures to improve service outcomes and visibility
• Manages customer service levels and expectations and periodically reports progress & challenges
• Works with the Vendor Management team to manage contracts and relationships with third party vendors with respect to support, training and upgrades

Core Skills:

• Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent and at least 5 years' experience of Senior Management and Leadership roles
• Technical mind set with knowledge of common technologies and development methods. SQL at a competent level preferred
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, compare data, investigate and resolve discrepancies
• Proficient in Service Management methodologies such as ITIL and familiar with project management principles
• Experience in managing one or more applications in terms of configuration, change management and provision of customer service
• Knowledge and experience of Product Management principles with respect to software development
• The ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision while maintaining organisation and preserving strict confidentiality of all information.
• Able to demonstrate exceptional customer service and interact in a professional manner with various functions and levels within the Organisation
• Familiarity with common security and risk frameworks & legislation such as GDPR and ISO 27001
• Knowledge of and experience working in professional services environments. Experience of law firm processes, policies and procedures, and legal IT product market knowledge strongly preferred
