The Head of Events will be involved in the delivery of a planned programme of global B2B events to the highest standard to enable increased business opportunities.

Description:

  • Organise and deliver an established programme of large (up to 800) global events/exhibitions for internal clients and related activities including stand design, procurement (using agreed frameworks and processes) and negotiation with suppliers, annual budgeting, forecasting and event P+Ls - including hands-on delivery as required
  • Build, manage and develop a team with new processes and ways of working to deliver events on time and on budget, making best use of overall resource throughout the year
  • Develop the appropriate systems/processes/frameworks to ensure consistent, efficient and excellent delivery
  • Regular review of event activity to ensure optimum output is being achieved including building clear programme objectives, plans, KPIs and, working with stakeholders, to develop the tools to effectively monitor, evaluate and report on activity to the events board
  • Ongoing negotiation during event the planning and delivery process, ensuring the consideration of the value of buying power that multiple event management brings to achieve best value
  • Working closely with relevant teams within the organisation to ensure appropriate marketing and highest level of service is delivered
  • Keep up to date with trends and innovations within the events sector implementing new opportunities

Profile

Essential:

  • Demonstrable, end to end event management and delivery experience, from conception through to completion of large and small events/exhibitions in business tourism which evidence creativity and delivery to the highest standards of quality and value for money
  • Experience managing event process including planning, risk assessment and mitigation, budget management, delivery, monitoring and evaluation, lessons learned and reporting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and negotiate effectively, including success in generating events proposals and bidding documentation, public presentations, influencing and negotiating
  • Experience of developing and managing relationships with external partners with ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Outstanding organisational, planning and time management skills in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to prioritise and deliver quality work to deadlines, including managing the work of others
  • Working knowledge of supplier agreements, procurement documentation and evaluation matrices, function sheets, etc, including experience of contract management and holding suppliers to account
  • Strong customer focus and ability to walk the extra mile to satisfy partner needs
  • Experience managing and keeping within budgets
  • Experience of developing, managing and leading a team to help them achieve to their potential
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with both internal and external stakeholders; the ability to listen, advise and manage expectations
  • Strong proactivity and initiative; able to take initiative and see things through to delivery
