Head of Transactional Finance

We are currently working with a large Midlands Local Authority who are rolling out significant Financial Management transformation over the next 18 months. As part of that programme, they are looking to engage a professional interim manager to lead the Transactional Service unit within Finance for the next 6-12 months.

With the Head of Department seconded to support the transformation programme, the core team of Payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable will need strong and steady leadership in the coming months. With change happening across the finance department, there is no doubt this will have an impact on these teams and you will be asked to ensure that the Transactional Units are able to embrace and facilitate the wider change.

In terms of your previous experience, we are looking for someone with recent exposure to leading transactional teams as you might expect. You may not have covered all of the three core departments but will be familiar with the processes each need to follow, and have a strong grasp of the key role they play. In addition, you will be a competent manager with the ability to improve and inspire teams through good man-management, well-drilled processes and great communication skills.

Some local government experience will certainly help and applications demonstrating thi are likely to be prioritised. However, if you are used to managing large teams within large organisations; if you have good operational finance leadership experience; and if you have some recent experience in the Public Sector, then we would be interested to hear from you. The role is offered for at least 6 months and has been reviewed as In Scope of IR35.
