Our client, a private equity backed and fast-growing Utilities/Telco business, is seeking an experienced and ambitious Finance Director to support their ambitious growth agenda. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-growth company at an early stage in its development.

The Role

The successful individual will have a blue-chip pedigree but with a track record of applying that experience to smaller but fast-growing entities. They will have the requisite experience to do the job together with the drive, motivation and ambition commensurate with the challenge and the opportunities afforded by the role.

In addition to the normal financial and accounting skills and experience the successful candidate will have a strong commercial outlook and excellent contract management skills.

You will be technically strong, be capable of a hands-on approach and have worked in an entrepreneurial fast-growth environment. Sector experience in contracting, construction, telecoms, broadband, utilities or related technology is strongly preferred, as is experience within a PE/VC setting.

This position would suit a qualified Finance Director / CFO who is equally at home with Investor Relations, transactions and investment appraisal as they are in getting into the detail.

Key areas of responsibility will include:
  • Develop and manage financial and management reporting processes
  • Strong forecasting, budgeting, cashflow and financial analysis
  • Build, manage and mentor a small finance team
  • Work closely with the board and senior management team on the direction of the business
  • Lead transactions and investment appraisal as required
  • Develop and drive robust Capex budgeting and control processes and systems
  • Commercial and strategic advice to management and the Board
  • Lead the continuing development of the controls and compliance function
  • Liaison and development of relationships with investors and external stakeholders
  • Monitoring and driving financial progress of the business through timely and relevant financial reporting
  • Providing commercial and strategic leadership to the business
  • Managing liquidity and cash flow maximisation
  • Reviewing and improving KPIs for all areas of the business in order to improve the quality and relevance of management information and ultimately to drive performance improvement
  • Developing a forward-looking, strategic finance team which can support all areas of the business and help drive significant growth in profits in line with group strategy
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
