WISH2ACTION Operations Director
International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF)
Nairobi, Kenya
Fixed term to end August 2021

The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is the leading global NGO in the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). It is currently working in more than 170 countries in the world. The Africa Regional Office (IPPFARO) is one of IPPF’s six regional offices.

“Women’s Integrated Sexual Health” (WISH) is IPPF's new flagship health programme to transform the lives of millions of women and girls. Funded by DFID, WISH will provide integrated and holistic healthcare to 2.2m additional users of contraception across 16 countries in Africa and South Asia from 2018-2021.

Through a consortium of five internationally recognised organisations and 11 IPPF Member Associations led by IPPF, the WISH programme will provide a comprehensive, integrated approach to ensure equitable access to family planning and sexual and reproductive health and rights. The programme will prioritise the most underserved women and girls, particularly youth under 20, the very poor, and marginalized populations (including people with disability, people displaced or affected by humanitarian crisis, and people living in hard-to-reach areas).

This role will be part of a team of highly skilled professionals leading a global consortium to deliver a large, multi-country, DFID-funded integrated Family Planning and Reproductive Health programme. As the manager of the Technical Support, Evidence and Learning, and Finance and Procurement teams, this role will complement and coordinate with the WISH2ACTION Programme Director to ensure that country programmes and consortium partners have the support they need to deliver WISH2ACTION, resolve operational challenges, and promote continuous quality improvement, to ensure that programmes are meeting their financial and programmatic targets and reporting requirements for DFID.

This role will provide high quality oversight and management of critical, complex cross-team issues and lead a multinational team of technical, financial and administrative experts working to deliver the programme to the highest technical quality.

The ideal applicant will be an entrepreneurial, results oriented, commercially oriented, inspirational leader, with substantial experience managing multi-functional, multi-cultural and multi-country teams. You will have strong contract management experience and a focus on delivering targets and experience with operational and financial management of large donor funded programs and understanding of donor relations and reporting, with DFID or another institutional donor.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with people from different countries and cultures, very strong leadership and administrative skills, the ability to analyse complex organisational issues and propose innovative solutions and be willing to travel internationally, about 60 days a year.
