Head of Planning, Transport and Licencing

A leading London Borough is looking for an interim Head of Planning, Transport and Licencing. The local authority is going through a period of change and the role will focus on the delivery of the strategic regeneration plan.

Position: Head of Planning, Transport and Licencing
Period: 6 months (on going)
Location: London
Rate: £600 - £700 per day

Day to day responsibilities will include:

• Manage a budget of between £6-8million in expenditure and income
• Manage a Planning Service of around 50 - 60 officers
• Lead a portfolio of customer focused services in line with departmental and corporate objectives
• Provide leadership and management to achieve high performance and effective operational delivery; which will include managing the effective use of resources and staff
• Work closely with the Operational Director to support effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders and portfolio holders
• Support and develop partnership working
• Oversee the strategic management of the council's statutory planning, transport strategy and licensing functions
• Support the Operational Director in ensuring that the department has clear direction with coherence between its functions and responsibilities
• Take responsibility for the overall performance of the service and for the performance of the Department in delivering against agreed objectives and target outcomes

Applicants for this role must have:

• Relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD) qualification
• Management qualification
• RTPI accredited postgraduate degree
• Eligible for Membership of RTPI or RICS (Planning & Development)
• Comprehensive understanding of current issues & developments affecting planning, regeneration & local government in London
