Job Purpose / Objectives:

To ensure the effective running of the UK site with a particular focus on ensuring consistent quality, OTIF, customer service and profitability within the guidance set by the Board. Participate in the creation and take responsibility for the deployment of the company strategy in the UK site. Support the Managing Director in a matrix management structure to ensure the timely completion of tasks across all departments

General Management

Assists senior management in setting goals that promote company growth

Oversees daily activity of the site, managing through the middle management team

Prepares budgets, schedules, and other organisational reports as needed to enable the deployment of the company strategy

Develops plans to increase efficiency and reduce costs by driving a Continuous Improvement culture and improves existing systems and policies

Ensures customer requirements are met in a timely manner in production and engineering teams

Promotes and enforces safety in the workplace

Manages stock and inventory

Oversees manufacturing functions

Works closely with all departments to promote efficient factory optimisation

Identifies improvement areas and plans and implements systems to boost company effectiveness through the Lean and Continuous Improvement Teams

Manages internal and external service suppliers

Executes plans designed to meet company goals by changing policies and coaching employees

Efficiency:

Take actions where targets are not being met.

Drive cost efficiencies and purchasing improvements throughout all processes.

Consolidate purchases of materials to achieve maximum economic benefit with fewer purchase orders.

Experience Required.

Must has a background in Operations Management, Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering

Previous Operation Director or Operations Manager experience with proven record of delivering manufacturing excellence in electro-mechanical assemblies.

Responsibility for 50+ employees in a diverse range of functions with P&L responsibility for upwards of £4 million/yr.
