A FTSE 100 retail company are undergoing a data transformation and are looking to hire a Head of Data to pioneer this transition.

The Company

This company are one of the leading retailers in the UK and are a household name. They have typically had an IT function in which a big data infrastructure has been built using a Hadoop and Azure based tech stack. They have recently hired a new CDO who is looking to create a centralised Big Data and Data Science function within the business, which can serve the needs for all business areas.

The Role

As the Head of Data, you will:

• Report into the CDO to develop a full, end to end data strategy for the company.
• Work with key business stakeholders across different areas of the business, the pioneer a cultural change as to how the company uses data.
• Take ownership over Data Engineering, Data Governance and Data Strategy.
• Work alongside a Head of Data Science to complete the technical and cultural transition to a new big data function for the whole business.
• Complete the company's transition to a fully cloud based infrastructure.

Require Skills & Experience

As the Head of Data, you will:

• Have extensive and recognised experience implementing an enterprise wide data strategy across multiple business areas.
• Have experience transforming the culture of a company to make data driven business decisions.
• Have previous experience of being hands on with large scale data, and using data specifically for data science.
• Have experience working in a cloud environment, ideally Azure but also AWS/GCP.
