Job Description

This is a pivotal role for the UK business, whilst also being highly visible to the wider European stakeholders. The role will have dual responsibility, leading the core accounting duties for the UK, to include, financial planning and analysis but in addition, driving key commercial initiatives aimed at growing revenue and profitability. Reporting into the CFO in Geneva and dotted line to the UK General Manager.

Work closely with the GM and UK based leadership team to drive growth and improved profitability. Partner up with other functions outside Finance and with your strong network (in eg Marketing, logistics) to build business plans and define ways to identify gaps, opportunities.

Lead strategic analysis and interpretation of financial plans and coordinate the development of all corporate financial planning including quarterly forecasts, annual budget, and 3-5 year Strategic Plan.

Drives or supports commercial initiatives in UK/Ire to drive deep understanding of performance drivers and improve efficiency and profitability.

Provide detailed MTD, QTD, and YTD financial analysis, management reporting, and financial summaries for both internal and external purposes. Understand business risks and identify ways to mitigate/challenge senior management. Owning the in-year risks and opportunities for the team - the variances to the plan as we make decisions and track our variances to what we had planned.

Supervise Accounting outsourcer to oversee and monthly control financial closing, review and adjust as needed. Define and review accruals and provisions. Maintain AP/AR/GL quality metrics, liaise with external and internal audits as per management guidance. Ensure timely and accurate close and coordinate closely with EMEA Controller.

Accountable to ensure all accounting processes, Corporate policies and controls are performed in accordance with local regulations, EMEA HQ guidance as well as Group policy.

Drive successful implementation of PTP process in close collaboration with the Global PTP team.

Support Regional team in Geneva with strategic initiatives and EMEA projects including Procurement, Business Development projects, internal controls and process / system improvements.

The Successful Applicant

Candidates must demonstrate a solid track record in a senior finance role with proven background in budgeting and forecasting, financial analysis and modelling including consolidation of financial forecasts. You will be either ACA, CIMA or ACCA Qualified with significant post qualification experience, preferably some within the pharmaceutical sector.

You will have strong commercial acumen, someone who thinks strategically and takes a proactive approach to resolve complex problems through analysis of situations. Experience supporting Customer Facing Functions, Commercial operations and sales departments is preferred.

Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are essential. You must have the ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with non-financial managers and all levels of personnel within varying regions. This role will suit a self-motivated and smart individual, who will work collaboratively with the management team and wider business. The right candidate will also have an enthusiastic, driven and proactive personality and the ability to quickly contribute to the team.
