Public Health Wales is the National Public Health Institute in Wales and our purpose is Working to achieve a healthier future for Wales.

This is an extremely exciting time for an inspirational leader to join us in such a pivotal national leadership role. We have recently created our ambitious new Long Term Strategy, 2018 – 2030, which will enable us to focus on how we can best work with our partners and the public to have maximum impact in transforming health and well-being and reducing health inequalities in Wales. The Strategy sets out how we will focus our collective efforts, expertise and resource to achieve a healthier future for Wales through our seven inherently linked key strategic priorities. Despite the significant challenges that we face in Wales, through our Well-being of Future Generations Act, we have a unique and innovative policy and legislative environment to exploit the opportunities for a healthy and sustainable Wales.

At this important time, we are now looking for our new Executive Director of Health and Well-being to join our Board. This is a senior, national leadership role in Wales with executive responsibility for strategically leading the development and operational delivery of evidence-based approaches and interventions with partners to achieve substantial improvements in health and well-being. Through the creation of our new and innovative Behavioural Insights Unit for Wales as a central and exciting feature of the role, we will lead in the development of insights and interventions with the public and partners to help us live as healthier lives as possible. A fundamental feature of the role is to be able to work collaboratively with ministers and officials across Government and with partners across sectors in order to influence and galvanise collective action.

Working as part of an organisation with outstandingly talented people, this is a unique opportunity for an inspirational and strategic population health leader who can drive collaborative partnerships, nationally and internationally, stretch our ambitions as a nation and drive the implementation of change locally and nationally, to help transform health in Wales. Our successful appointee will require first class influencing and engagement skills combined with a passion for making a real difference.
