The Company

Our client is a leading supplier of electro-mechanical systems and components to its customers throughout the UK and Ireland. Established for over 50 years, they have developed a unique offering in their market, providing customers with a single-source supply for new equipment, refurbishment and spares needs.

With annual sales of circa £10m, and highly profitable, the company is performing very well. Importantly, it has the right strategy and structure in place to enable it to grow significantly over the coming years.

They are now looking to appoint an experienced and commercially-led business leader to succeed the current Managing Director, and to continue the development and growth of this successful organisation.

The Role:

  • You will have P&L responsibility for a growing multi-channel business with sales of circa £10m, and a team of 35 people. The organisation is profitable and has a strong balance sheet.
  • The key objective is to enable the business to continue to grow its sales and profitability, through the development and implementation of the sales strategy and the support of the company’s management team.
  • This will be a hands-on and customer-facing position, in which you will have the opportunity to lead and develop a well-regarded business, and a loyal and highly experienced team. Developing a sales and service-led organisation that builds on its industry-leading high-performing customer-led approach, will be a primary goal.

The Candidate:

  • You will be a proven and accomplished sales-led business leader from a relevant technically-biased electro-mechanical engineering organisation. Customer facing, you will understand how to lead and develop a high-performing sales and service-led business.
  • You will ideally have experience of a project-led environment, where there is a multi-channel route to market. Possessing good financial management skills, including working knowledge of P&L, cash flow and balance sheets, you will be a proven leader, coach and relationship manager with drive, pace and tenacity.
  • A hands-on individual, you will be comfortable and experienced in working in an SME-sized business, ideally with the understanding of the process and structure that is more commonplace in blue-chip organisations – with a recognised and relevant first degree-level qualification.
