Our client is a large US law firm looking for a highly experienced HR professional to have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the London office, including business planning, intake and integration of all new hires, support staff management, and practice support.  This is a fast-paced office providing legal services for clients across UK and EMEA. This position reports to and works closely with the London Office Managing Partner, the Firmwide Managing Partner and the Chief Human Resources Officer.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in the development of business plans, through assistance to partners with the correct allocation and introduction of staff
  • Work closely with the Office Managing Partner to manage the day-to-day affairs of the office
  • Supervise and develop local support staff and promoting professional development opportunities and developing programmes
  • Customize or adapt any firmwide HR policies or practices to reflect the requirements of local legislation and best practice
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies
  • Management of all HR related procedures (including on boarding of new hires, consensual and non-consensual exits and grievances)
  • Develop and monitor annual operating and capital budgets, including the budgets for headcount
  • Lead firm wide HR project or change programmes

To be successful in this role you will require:

  • Extensive experience as a senior HR professional within a professional services firm, preferably a law firm Demonstrated experience in managing in a fast paced, collegial and collaborative work environment Experience with lease negotiations for office space, managing build-outs, renovations and office moves Strong budget management experience including implementing strategies to meet or improve budgets

This is more than just a regional HR Director, you will have responsibility for the commercial aspects of the London office and require a commercial and pragmatic approach.
