St Barnabas Hospices is a charity encompassing two hospices - St Barnabas House and Chestnut Tree House. St Barnabas House provides specialist palliative care for adults with life-shortening illnesses within the Worthing, Adur, Arun and Henfield areas; Chestnut Tree House offers care to children, young people with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions and their families throughout East Sussex, West Sussex and South East Hampshire. With an annual turnover of around £18m, 500 staff and over 2,000 volunteers, St Barnabas Hospices is one of the largest and most successful regional charities in the South of England.

Over the past ten years the charity has undertaken very ambitious projects for both hospices. In 2003 we opened Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice following a £5m build and since then we have developed a full range of care services for children and families both at the hospice and in the community. The children’s hospice now cares for 300 children and families with care costs in the region of £3.9m annually.

St Barnabas House is located in Worthing, West Sussex. It provides end of life care services, both at the hospice and in the local community, to adults with advanced progressive life-limiting conditions. It was opened in 1973, and in 2011 the adult hospice moved into a new £13.5m building.

With this in mind we are looking for an inspiring leader who shares our values and vision, to lead, grow and strengthen the organisation.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, this high-profile role will have overall management responsibilities for the hospices and associated community services, providing strong and visible leadership for all colleagues and volunteers.
